What is your favorite museum?
I have only been to seven museums that I can recall. However, I have dreams to one day visit the Louvre in Paris, France. Who knows, it could happen!
Anyone who knows me can attest for my love of the Western Cowboy Heritage and way of life. I thrive in the country and love western movies!
So, out of the seven museums I have visited, my first love would be the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph, MO. It was full of history about the boys and girls who rode fiercely to deliver and pick up mail in dangerous territories. I desperately wanted to visit the Jesse James House and it was not open the day we were in town. Although, we were able to visit the Patee House Museum and it did not disappoint!
My next favorite would be the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK, formally known as the National Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum. I also visited the Science Museum Oklahoma that day as well. Enjoyed them both!
I have had the pleasure of visiting The Durham Museum in Omaha, Ne., twice. On my first visit, they had a traveling exhibit of The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. I met a very tall man dressed and who looked just like President Lincoln. It was surreal! We shook hands and took pictures. That exhibit was extremely exhilarating to walk down history lane. You read and studied about it in grade school history books, but to see the items in the exhibit, the chair/seat he sat in at the Ford Theatre, and the bullet casings from the gun John Wilkes Booth used, really brought it to the surface that, oh my goodness, this IS history and I did learn something from it! Just like the time the Mayborn Museum in Waco, TX, brought the "Blockbuster" traveling exhibit, The Titanic, it was truly amazing! And finally, the Dr Pepper Museum also here in Waco. There you will learn how Dr Pepper was made and what it was used for. So much history about the drink we all love, and dear to our hearts!!
