Academic and Professional Interest

April Love is the Broader Impacts and Volunteer Engagement Manager at the Mayborn Museum. She received her Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Museum Studies from Baylor University in 2018. Her professional experience ranges from developing museum educational programs, interactive exhibits, special populations tours/programs, and managing volunteer programs.

Since coming to the Mayborn in 2022, April has worked to develop formal Volunteer Best Practices policies and grown our Broader Impacts programs working with Baylor faculty, staff, and students. What she enjoys most about her job is providing training on informal education concepts and engagement techniques and creating an environment where volunteers can add a truly unique value to the work done at the Mayborn.

What is your favorite museum?

It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite museum, but the first museum that made me really fall in love with the museum world was the Kimbell Art Museum. I visited there in the 7th grade, and it overwhelmed me with the beauty of the place and the idea that I could connect with priceless treasures in a very up-close and personal way. I still think the Kimbell is a nearly perfect museum and try to visit at least once a year!
