Academic and Professional Interests

Jeff Pirtle is Director of The Texas Collection, University Archives & W. R. Poage Library at Baylor University.  He joined Baylor on July 1, 2022.

Prior to joining Baylor, Pirtle worked 20 years at NBCUniversal in Los Angeles, for twelve of those years as Director, Archives & Collections.  He has also served as Museum and Archives Project Manager for the J.C. Penney Company headquartered in Plano, Texas, the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth and served as a graduate intern with the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. A native of Amarillo, TX, Jeff holds a BA in History as well as an MA in Museum Science, both from Texas Tech University.

What is your favorite museum?

Getty Center in Los Angeles, which encompasses the Getty Museum, Getty Research Institute and other programs of the Getty Trust.
